About Darcy Jones

Mr Darcy Jones gained his Diploma in Osteopathy from the British School of Osteopathy, London in 1984 and has been in full time practice as a Registered Osteopath in Basingstoke up to the present.

He is fully trained in DEXA scanning, and diagnosis of osteoporotic (brittle bones) patients. He also gives advice on patient management of the disease.

From 2003, Darcy formed a working partnership with John Sutcliffe FRCS(SN) Consultant Spinal-Neurosurgeon at the London Spine Clinic. This evolved, because it became increasingly evident that many patients with back or neck pain presenting to the clinic had underlying disc disease that had been poorly diagnosed and required a more specific multi-disciplinary treatment and management approach.

Osteopathic manipulation (“clicking” or “popping” of spinal joints) in these cases is often counter productive and de-stabalises the spine. Darcy has extensive experience in the conservative management of back pain caused by spinal disc disease.

Following a meeting in his 20’s with the yogi BKS Iyingar that subsequently changed his life, he has used yoga as a way of self-help and as an exercise regime par excellence for back pain management by patients.  Darcy runs yoga back care courses regularly with a number of local yoga teachers.

Darcy has also trained with Dr Ronald Livingstone, Dr Aubrey Westlake & Professor Anthony Andreasen FRCS, FRS. All who have been profound and wonderful mentors.

Darcy is committed to ongoing, Continuing Professional Development and has attended many post-graduate courses, including Cranial Osteopathy, Neural Therapy (use of local anaesthetic injections) and Body-orientated Psychotherapy. Keeping up to date with advances in osteopathy ensures that patients receive the best possible treatment and advice

Darcy is passionate about politics, military/history and global macro-economics.  He plays tennis, shoots clay pigeons and enjoys good wine.
